This movie is so important to me, and deeply personal as someone having family from both Germany and the Jewish people being persecuted in the war. Its a story about so much love, finding a way to survive in the darkest conditions, and I was blessed to see so much thought put into such a historically driven movie. It helped me grow after a rather stark experience in my life, and Im so happy that it exists.

Its weird how the negative reviews of the film come from reviewers that seem to believe the audience must be dumb. Ive seen it twice myself and both times the audience has been laughing and crying throughout the movie. Everyone, minus those that are actually Nazis, knows Nazis are bad and are in on the joke of laughing at the Nazis in the movie. They are supposed to be idiots and show how dumb the rules and everything about Nazism truly is by laughing at it. Its easily my favorite movie of the year, I leave the movie feeling so happy and hopeful, more than any other movie has made me in a long time. I haven't been able to get the movie out of my head.

Mel Brooks made it his life mission to make the Nazis the butt of the jokes. Waktiki is only doing what the master Brooks did before. Jojo rabbit intro. Jojo rabbit stories. When I saw this movie a couple of months ago, I just thought how it should felt to be locked down because your life out there is in danger. now 03/21 I'm dying for the moment of going out to the streets and dance again... I just finished watching this movie a few hours ago and, after digesting what I'd just seen, blitzed through a handful of exasperatingly reductive reviews by self-serious professional critics who didn't get the movie at all. I was so relieved to watch yours and to see that some of us can get to the heart of what makes this film great (and not at all because of the Oscar recognition) and why those critics are tripping. I like the spoilers-later format, too. Great job👍.

We watched this movie in class and Ill just say I had to try really hard to not die from the you know what scene. Spoiler And we finished before Captain K also sacrificed himself so I looked it up and prepared myself and luckily I did bc I barely held on for his mother and would lose it if I didnt know that Captain K did the most heroic thing for him.

When he was in the house and said me and fake Nathan have devised a plan for you to escape And when they walked out and he said we made it I don't know why but that really touched me. Jojo rabbit cast members. Jojo rabbit director. I've seen some reviews saying this movie makes light of the holocaust & also that people couldn't "make it past 30 minutes. I was nervous when the beginning seemed to showcase an upbeat side to being a Nazi, but as the movie goes on, you'll find it's meant to be ironic.
This movie certainly focuses on the heartbreak and struggle that happened during the holocaust as well as the absurd beliefs held by those participating as Nazis.
Also, the casting and acting are incredible! A truly heartfelt, ironic, funny and interesting story about keeping your hope during trauma.
